Adsum Families Return to the Classroom
September is here, and many children across the province are getting ready to head back to class this fall. Though this time is filled with fun and excitement, for many families experiencing homelessness, this time of year can be stressful.
“Will I fit in when I return to school? “
“Will I be able to focus at school and not worry about the issues surrounding my home?”,
These are just some of the many questions flowing through the minds of families this September.
At Adsum, we strive to work with families to create a secure and stable environment for parents and children to thrive. Stable housing, a safe space to study and work can increase a child’s likelihood of doing well in school and decrease their likelihood of dropping out.
In preparation for this back-school rush, staff within Adsum took steps to support many of our clients and families getting ready to head back into the classroom. In hopes of ensuring all children can enter the classroom with a level of confidence and feeling of care that they all deserve, staff provided families with supplies and support to help alleviate some of the stress attached to returning to school.
We wish all of the children and families all the best as they head into the classroom this Fall. Thank you to community members and staff for supporting the warm welcome back into the classroom.
Special thanks to Tasha at @_braidsbytasha_ for helping youth at the Sunflower look and feel their best on their first day of school.
