What we do in numbers -

Adsum House provided:

  • 5,940 bed nights for emergency shelter for an occupancy rate of 99.1%

  • 128 unique persons with shelter and support

  • 17,520 meals to residents and visitors

  • 2,330 hours of programming

  • 39 clients with household items when they moved to housing

  • Bags of Christmas gifts to 213 Adsum clients and bags of toys to 645 children

  • Bi-weekly on site access to a nurse from MOSH (Mobile Outreach Street Health)

Adsum Court provided:

  • 30 women and gender-diverse persons with housing, rented at 30% of their income; tenancy ranged from a few months to 25+ years

  • 768 meals prepared by residents together with staff

  • 960 hours of programming

  • 936 food bags from Feed Nova Scotia to supplement residents' groceries

  • 130 meetings with an Adsum social worker

The Alders provided:

  • 11 community memebers and 4 children with affordable housing; tenancy ranged from 6 months to more than 6 years

  • 120 visits to the Drop-In for showers and laundry

Adsum Centre provided:

  • 27 women and gender-diverse people, and 2 children with housing and 24-hour support

  • 530 hours of educational, therapeutic and recreational programming

  • 520 hours of one-on-one meetings to residents

  • 13 parents with the Strengthening Parenting Skills program

  • Program and support to parents of 23 children and 2 pregnant individuals

  • 21 children with regular supervised access visits with their mothers

  • 18 individuals and families with support to move on to independent housing

  • In-person Outreach support to 11 clients and 10 children

  • 787 phone support calls with ex-residents

Family Condominiums provided:

  • 3 families including 4 children, with safe, quality housing and supplemented rent to make housing affordable

  • Services and social work support as needed

Diverting Families from Shelter to Home provided:

  • 117 requests for Diverting Families from Shelter to Home housing support services

  • 53 families were provided with stable housing

  • 86 families, including 155 children received ongoing support

  • 0 children stayed in emergency shelter

  • 22 families were supported with a total of $23,810 in one-time financial support ranging from $95.93 - $2700. Financial support helped to pay for family’s rental arrears, damage deposits, first month’s rent, power, oil and temporary stays in hotel. These one-time supports ensured families would not enter the cycle of homelessness.

Housing Coordinator provided:

  • 230+ with eviction prevention and support

  • 13 adults and 3 children with stable housing and supports
