The Bridge

Officially opening its doors in 2023, the Bridge is an all-gender shelter operating in a hotel setting, funded by the Province of Nova Scotia.  The shelter provides residents with medical support through Nova Scotia Health, and housing support Welcome Housing. Adopting a client-centered and harm-reduction approach to care, the Bridge operates as a 24-hour shelter, providing residents with two-three meals per day and occasional programming facilitated by staff and residents.   

Despite being an all-gendered shelter, the Bridge has a designated floor for women, trans, and gender-diverse people do not live in a co-ed space. Cis-men (both staff and residents) are not permitted on this floor.
